There are several tools to help you develop an iOS app, while knowing absolutely nothing about C++ or Objective C. (http://www.codeleakers.com/showthread.php?31753-TUT-Objective-C) If you're here to learn how to actually develop an app yourself, just wait. Tutorial on the development process soon.

If you want to have your app laid out for you on a web interface, and you want access to a simulator without having OS X, then you want to take a look at Appmakr. (http://www.appmakr.com/)

Bands can use MobBase (http://www.mobbase.com/) to keep fans up to date on their music, tour dates, etc.

iSites (http://isites.us/) will consolidate your RSS feeds from Quick Post, Blogger, Posterous, Youtube, Flickr, and other social media sites. It assembles everything into a complete app that's fun to use.

Without your needing to know anything, Swebapps (http://swebapps.com/) lets you design advanced apps that include streaming audio, photo galleries, map and location capabilities, and even podcasts.

My App Builder (http://myappbuilder.com/) has been used to create over 500 apps. Build an identical app for iPhone and Android platforms. You only need to provide them with your content and a "blueprint." The rest is done for you for $29 a month.

For $39 per month, Bizness Apps (http://www.biznessapps.com/) will let you choose from a menu of options to create your iPhone app within your web browser. The company also guarantees to finish your app for you if you run into trouble.

I've wanted to make an app for a while but when I've looked it up it seems like it takes a lot of stuff and some investment.

It takes investment to build one on your computer, using Xcode. I've been working on an app for a while now, and you can't just download the software and simulator, and build it. You have to pay $99 for a developer license, if you want to test your app on actual iDevices. It's worth it, if you make money off of your app.
