So here's a great way to start my day. I woke up to get on my computer, and I opened the screen, and I am lucky enough to see that it's fucking cracked from top to bottom in a spider web form. I just bought that laptop 2 months ago. Hard to fix my other laptop if this one is broken. This might have a warranty, but where I bought it from I didn't pay the extra $80 for a year. According to the Toshiba website (my computer brand) I entered my serial and all that shit, and I'm covered. Now where the fuck am I going to send it to? Best Buy? Computer shop? What? I kinda need suggestions from some computer geniuses around here.
I have a desktop monitor coming, but I need to have this fixed for college.

Most of the time you can take it back to the retailer you bought it off - I presume you have your receipt?
(Could've posted this in the computer section :p).

That's my main problem, no idea where the receipt is. It can either be in the box I got it from, which is either in the closet packed away, or it's in the garbage and long gone. Honestly, I can't pay $200 to fix this shit either.

If you can get the receipt you can take it back to the retailer. If not you might be able to send it direct to the manufacturer.

That might be my only option, but then it would be gone for up to 2-4 weeks, which I use a computer daily.
I'm honestly done with laptops and gonna go buy a desktop.

If its your fault that the screen is all cracked it doesn't matter if you are under warranty.. If you bring it back to the retailer the retailer wont give you a refund they may however offer you a good price and a place to go to, to get the screen fixed. And Iced deffinatly get a desktop, laptops have to many problems and are to fraile imo. Sorry to hear btw.

I got lucky when I cracked the screen of my PSP 1000. I had warranty, but since it was self inflicted damage, it wasn't valid. The dude at Gamestop was nice enough to overlook it, and give me a replacement anyways (my PSP 2000).

Yes, Depending where you live (Im in the UK) all electrical items have a 12 year warranty on them, usually you would need the receipt and a damn good story on how it happened to get a refund, if not you can usually get them repaired for next to nothing from the laptop manufacturer

Iced check here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ndard_Warranty
See if you can find what you're covered by and then see if you can find anything in the terms.
