    Default GECKO QUESTION

so has anyone with a Gecko explored the possibility of making codes with the new console WII-U

I haven't looked at the tech specs. to tell whether it would be possible or have the same connections and what not.
has anyone bothered to think about that as the wii will be pretty much a thing of the past not long after the WII-U comes out. I know, I know, people will still play it and hack it but The majority will be on the new console. Just like there's still people playing the N-64 or gamecube but most nintendo users eventually moved to the wii or even xbox or ps3.

here's another thought. do you think the makers of the GECKO would be able to make a new version compatible with the WII-U sometime if the current one is not compatible?

Just one of those weird questions that pops in my head. I know some people are just getting into this stuff and it would be a shame to spend the 50 bucks, make a couple codes, and then get the WII-U and the Gecko be just worthless junk.

yeah clay10 that's what I mean. I haven't done the research so this might be a completely pointless thread. but who knows, maybe whatever connections the new console has maybe they could make some kind of adapter that worked on whatever the new console has for connections.

Damn it now I'm going to have to go find some specifications and try to find out for myself. I'm guessing some people will get the new one and gut it trying to find vulnerabilities and hardware hacks and I'm sure some kind of homebrew or similar software hacks too but I'll bet they'll keep it to themselves for a while or make something like the gecko to produce and sell. I guess we'll see

Little newbert a USB Gecko uses the GameCube memory Card slot. Unless someone makes another expensive way to PHYSICALLY modify the Wii U then there will be another way.
There will always be a way to hack it but its in any progress since nobody knows the spec and software and shit for it. And there hasnt even been an official release date so just dont worry about it for now.

I'm sure that the wii u would have an sd card port so you can still use an sd gecko which most people don't use. One thing about it, I bet nintendo will patch the direct ram access from the sd port in the wii u so it may not work. Also remember homebrew will be patched so it would probably be a while before any new software could be made and released publicly for homebrew hacking.

Anyone know why the USB Gecko didn't use the Wii USB?
Just software reasons? Easier to code the software to run the hardware from a save game slot? If so maybe an SD version could work?

USB slot doesn't have ram access. It was made for accessories. On the wii u only an sd gecko may have a chance to work if there is still ram access. You never know the usb port may have ram access and make life a lot easier.
