(TuT) How to Get Windows 7 for Free
Warning: I am NOT responsible for any warnings you get from your ISP when following this tutorial. Use this at your own risk.
Step 1: Download a torrent client if you don't already have one. There are many torrent client's to choose from, but the best in my opinion are Bittorrent or uTorrent. Download one of these.
Download BitTorrent Here: http://www.bittorrent.com/
Download uTorrent Here: http://www.utorrent.com/
Go ahead and install the one you downloaded and continue on to step two.
Step 2: For this step you are going to need a blank DVD and some type of software to burn the .iso of Windows 7 that you will we will be downloading. There are plenty of programs that can complete this task, but I use imgburn.
Download imgburn Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mohtwjzmwzm (You could also download it off their website at imgburn.com, but the download there installs many useless plug-ins that you won't want on your computer)
Go ahead and let the installation wizard guide you through the install.
Alright, now that you have the two programs necessary to download and burn the copy of Windows 7, we will now go to part two of the tutorial.
Step 3: Download Windows 7 with your torrent client Here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6464...-64.bit-MAFIAA
*Make sure you click the option circled in red! The other option installs adware on your computer that isn't fun to try get off!
Wait for the download to complete to move on to the next step.
Step 4: Now that the download is complete you can either choose to stop seeding the torrent or continue seeding. If you have a certain amount of bandwidth you have to stay under every month, don't want to upload the files to other computers, or something along those lines right click on the torrent in your torrent client and select the "stop" option.
Step 5: Open the files that are in the torrent you downloaded and you will find two other files. One file contains the instructions for installation and the other is the .iso (copy of Windows 7). At this point you will need to insert your blank DVD into your burner and open imgburn.
You will see that it looks like this when you startup imgburn. Click "Write image file to disc".
Now, click the option circled in red and find your .iso of windows 7.
Next, for the write speed, choose 4x to make sure you get a good burn.
Let imgburn burn the .iso to the disc. This step will take 10-15 minutes. When this step is done you can now move on to Part 3.
Part 3: BEFORE CONTINUING ON MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR FILES BACKED UP TO AN EXTERIOR HARDDRIVE SO YOU HAVE ALL YOUR FILES. THIS STEP WILL ERASE ALL FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER.
Step 6: Insert the DVD you burned into your DVD reader and turn your computer off. When you turn it back on it should say "press any key to launch files off CD or DVD or something along those lines. Go ahead and press any key and it will load up the Windows Installtion Process.
When it asks how you want to install Windows 7 choose "custom installation". Next, choose the version of Windows you want. I prefer Windows 7 Ultimate. Continue to go along with the installation and it will guide you through the rest. When it installs you will not need a product key to activate it. Have fun with Windows 7 and remember, DON'T DOWNLOAD UPDATES FROM MICROSOFT.

I'm guessing this would be perfectly legal in the case that you use this for a backup?

One thing, if you're planning to upgrade and keep an older operating system installed (like a dual boot) make sure your drive isn't compressed. If it is then you'll get a "Boot MGR is compressed" error, and you're fucked if you don't feel like re-formatting.
Other than that, kick ass tutorial. This could be helpful for idiots out there.
