    Default Ipod Touch Failbreak

I thought since I got my new Ipod, Jailbreaking would be a cinch.
I totally neglected to remember that with a new Ipod there is most likely a new Firmware along with it.

So I did redsn0w jailbreak without knowing it was a tethered jailbreak at the time. Once it was finished I didnt like it and decided to downgrade to a more jailbreakable Firmware - 4.2.1
I changed the ip for gs.apple.com to re-direct to saurik so I could downgrade it to said firmware, then jailbroke it with greenp0ison.

    My problems:
    1. Known bug for greenpoison being that you cant get on to your ipod and it stuck at the boot logo.
    2. By me changing the ip for gs.apple.com in C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc I cant restore/update( My theory anyways )

Anybody got any recommendations besides getting a new Ipod or letting apple take a look at it.

Thats what restore means, its an option in iTunes to reset your Device to factory settings.

Just delete the gs.apple.com, to restore.

In the future, use TinyUmbrella when you want to downgrade. Much easier than editing your hosts file. You just start the TinyUmbrella server, downgrade, then shut it down.

Restoring of course, depends on it showing up in Itunes. There are programs to kick it out of recovery.

i downgraded from 5 to 4.3.3, easily. It's the same process as downgrading from any other firmware, you just need the SHSH blobs.

This was the most helpful, I just had to reset my computer for the hosts edits to take place, now Im able to update. If anyone finds an untethered jailbreak for firmware 5.0, let me know

I never had any luck finding an untethered for up to 4.3.5, so good luck. But i haven't checked in months, so who knows.
