Default The end to the 04 codetype rumor

Everyone has been saying this, but I don't understand why. Apparentally no 04 codes work anymore. This, is false. They are direct RAM writes, and can easily be remade after a patch, as long as you have the original code (you can, however do it without the original code, but its easier to have the patched version.)

If all 04 codes could no longer function, you would not have people releasing C2, or C0 codetypes. Why? Because it is easiest to find addresses in the 80 range, and when you find that address you can view it, in a way, that allows you to change the actual instructions of that address, not just the value. I.e. this is how inf. Ammo works (once you find the address):
You should find an instructon, after viewing the breakpoint, that says subi, or an instruction like that. Now, subi means subtract immediately, so you could change that to addi, to make it add immediately, you could nop it so it doesn't subtract, and you can do other things along those lines.

But why can we not do that without the 04 codetypes? Because 04 is a common RAM write codetype, telling the game the address is located in 80XXXXXX. Without 80XXXXXX, we wouldn't have been able to find the address for the ammo.

Simple as that. So saying that 04 codes don't work anymore is basically saying you cannot write to the 0x80000000 memory region, which is NOT true.
So in conclusion, 04 codes CAN be patched, but just like 05 codes you can remake them.

Do I need a USB Gecko to do this?

Yes and no. You could make a 04 codetype out of a RAM dump, possibly, but you wouldn't find much in that memory region. To after-patch a code, yes, you need a gecko.

Remember this is only true if the base address has not been changed.

Its just so happens by default the base address is 0x80000000.

Why are people so obsessed with 04 & 05 code types and coming up with all these theories and stories about them?

Btw, all of you who are researching this stuff and taking advice about coding from the Wii Coders and whatnot please be advised that what they are explaining to you is only relevant to coding on the Wii with a USB Gecko, and does not apply elsewhere in coding, at all.

So don't start learning about this and then go talkin' like you know how to hack shit because of this, it's not applicable anywhere else. Only the basic aspects such as hex values, addresses, changing address values, finding pointers, etc, are applicable for other games/platforms, but not the code types themselves.
