Default [TuT] How to Write to an Address

Fool-proof way of writing to an address. This is really common sense, and everyones been struggling with it but I don't see why. Let me enlighten you, my young padawans.

For this, we will be using the variable X as whatever value you wish it to be, just realize it has to fit how your writing.

If you try and convert a value to floating point or hex, chances are the value will be 000XXXX. This would be because the generator was kind enough to JUST convert the values you put, and sometimes you'd actually want it 0000XXXX, but in this case we don't. Here is an example:
Say you are doing a simple math equation, where the answer is 0.21. Seeing as it is decimals, you are smart enough to realize no matter how many 0's you have after the .21, the .21000000000 will remain .21. Well, if you put the answer as .0000021, its completely different and you will for sure fail that assignment. Same thing applies to wii, basically, if you put 0's behind it the value usually won't change. So instead of putting the 0000XXXX that you get from your dec-hex, dec-float converter, always use XXXX0000.

This does not apply only to mw3.

    ********* Code example: *********

We will be using a completely made up address. Let's say that the address, 05987654 was a jump height address. So, to write to this, we know that we must use floating point, seeing as it deals with visual-ish stuff. We will be using what I believe is the number 2, to write to this address. 2 in floating point is 42, I believe, so how do we do this?

Depending on the converter you used, you might have gotten 00000042, but remeber, that's like saying .000002, instead of .200000. So we need to bring the 42 around front, nothing special, just do it backwards so you get 42000000. That is the value we want. So go ahead and write to the address, like so:
    05987654 42000000
So that is saying "Hey, change 05987654 to the value of 2", where as if we were wrote it 00000042 it would have said "Hey, change the value at 05987654 to .000002"

NOTE: Not all converters do it backwards, so don't assume it will always be backwards. If the values are at the front, use your knowledge of hex/float and see if the numbers are truley in the right order.

    Does that make more sense?

great tut but correct if im wrong this will be more of use to cod games as there are dvars not others that require gecko as automatic conversions can be done with gecko.net

Yes, you are wrong. You don't just use these in dvar codes, and although you can do auto conversions, you need to know this with other stuff as well. Well I suppose you could do stuff without knowing this, but everyone should know how to.

I dunno if I should laugh or facepalm... so I'll do both.

Nah, just kidding, I'll make this better tomorrow, I forgot to include that it only works on hex/float codes, not boolean and predetermained value codes (codes that you put 1 2 or 3 for a different effect.)
