Heuristic Virus Wiped Out Harddrive
My friend has an xp and then he got a virus that wiped all of his harddrive and his screen turned black. "Start" was empty. I installed an av in safe mode and it found 9 heuristic viruses and 1 normal virus. It deleted all of them but one that was called "Downloader".the black screen went away but his account is still fucked. His brothers account is perfectly fine, and the user accounts wont let him make another account, it just stays white. Any help? I scanned with Malwarebytes and Norton Internet Security 2012 and RKill.

This is why I aim to prevent a computer virus etc. There nearly always seems to be complications.
I used to tend to start all over - full format and a clean install of the OS.

Do i need to reinstall the OS? there is literally nothing in the start, i tried everything. Or do i system restore?

Try system restore first if you want, but make sure you do all your scans again as you could be/get infected (again).

Well I don't even think the start in safe mode has anything either, i installed the av and malwarebytes and those were the only 2 in the all programs, im guessing hes pretty much fucked

Sounds like a full format and fresh install of the OS.
Maybe get and install Windows 7? You could buy and/or download it ;).

You can get lite editions of Windows, somewhere, that will fit onto a DVD.
However you don't need to burn it to DVD.
First of all perform a fresh install of XP, or (if you can) you can use the current install. You can then download and install Windows 7 from the XP laptop or download it from another device and install it from a USB device. You run the setup from inside Windows.
