Compare countries GDP's and life expectancy's over time
This site basically compares every country in the worlds GDP, population, life expectancy and many other factors of countries to one another. It goes back all the way from 1800 to 2010, you can choose any countries to compare and it's very interesting to see them develop and fall over time.
The size of the countries bubbles represents it's population. The color represents it's region, and the higher the country is on the graph the higher it's life expectancy and the more to the right the country is on the graph the better the GDP.
I used this in school and I thought it was pretty cool so I thought I'd show everyone. This is the creator introducing it, try it out yourself it's pretty cool.

At one time the Ottoman Empire had the greatest life expectancy.
Nice find by the way.
The most interesting though has to be India. In 1800s their health was better than now mainly due to Muslim Mughals being there and treating everyone equally.
Also when I'm browsing through the top countries it's all filled with Western Europe and Oil rich middle Eastern countries.

It's funny that you post this. I'm actually doing a paper on this kind of stuff for my human geography class. I have a different source though.

There was a thing on CBC the other day about how global warming is going to make the human population decline.
It was quite comical, becuase I'm not sure if they knew or not, but Discovery and History both had shows on last week about how the human population has always historically exploded when the climate warms, for obvious reasons, loke there being more food for instance.
Kind of related, they were all good docs.
