    Default PSP 2000 Resurrection

So I had this poor broken PSP 2000 laying around... I decided I would resurrect the poor thing. So this is gonna be my work thread. I will be updating the thread and each time I update the thread I will leave a date that I updated it. So you can sort of see a time lapse of how long it took me to do it.

    Total Build Cost: $94.75
Problems Before Build: bad analog stick, bad screen, shit casing, no battery, and no ac charger.

    Date: Last Year Sometime
Purchased a PSP 2000 for $30. Now if I had known what I know now about the thing I probably would not have bought it... It didn't come with a battery or ac charger. Not a big deal but the killer of this project is that the screen itself is damaged and will probably have to be replaced at some point.

    Date: 03/29/2012
I ordered tons of replacement parts for the PSP. The total was: $64.75. Here is a list of all of the items I ordered.
    • Grade AA Smoke Black Shell (includes screws, buttons, shell)
    • Grade AA Black Faceplate
    • Hybrid 2 in 1 Battery (can boot service mode)
    • AC Charger
    • Analog Stick Module
    • Screen Cover
    • Greenish Aluminum Case
    • 8GB Pro Duo Memory Stick

I used three online vendors for my purchases. Amazon, Ziquexstore, DealeXtreme.

    Date: 04/10/2012
I already attempted to swap the shell and stuff. I got everything moved over fine. I just need to go back and fine tune done stuff that didn't go so well. I'll post pictures when the battery comes in and I fine tune it. For now this is an update of the current progress.

    Date: 04/25/2012
Hybrid PSP 2000 battery finally came in from DealeXtreme. Seems to fit nicely into the shell. The PSP is together. I need to take pictures and upload them and fix things on it that didn't go well during the speed swap.

    Date: 05/10/2012
Pretty much done. I just need to go and fix some little things.

    Date: 05/11/2012
Fixed almost all the bugs I had with the thing. Analog stick is now fully functional, PSP screen works now, tested my hybrid battery's pandora setting and that works too. Tipped had wanted me to throw the transparent faceplate on and I was going until I couldn't get the plastic covering off the screen so that's just not gonna happen. Fixed UMD door components. All that's left to do is order a new LCD screen (original has lines running through everything) and get the right side of the PSP's faceplate to sit properly and the thing is as good as new.

Goodluck. I was thinking about doing some repairs on mine, then figured it useless and just threw it on my night stand for the time being.

You might as well go and buy a new psp and hack it. It's not really worth to put the time and effort in fixing a psp when you can buy a used one for $90(with the charger). You end up putting in more money to fix it then to just buy another one.

Interesting. Maybe I could rebuild mine from the ashes. For now I'm stuck with a Vita and PSP Go. I miss my PSP 3000

Yeah this is a fun build. I have a perfectly working PSP Go that I currently use. I plan to get a Vita at some point.
