Is Minecraft Slow or Laggy on Your Computer?
If so, there are a few things you can do to increase performance. First of all, you can lower the render distance, lighting effects, and amount of effects and particles in the Video Settings of Minecraft itself.
If that isn't enough to help your problems, you can try installing Optifine.
Optifine is a mod that usually doubles FPS, if not more. It adds support for HD texture packs as well, if you want to use one. It improves performance on every machine, even the high end ones, and has custom files for multicore CPU's.
If you've never installed a minecraft mod before, it's as simple as downloading the mod classes and dragging them into your minecraft.jar. For exact steps:

I normally get 100-200 fps on normal render settings. With this mod i got 300-400 on far.

This is great. I also play Minecraft on my iPod and Android with the MInecraft PE and they run glitch-less.
