Default [GFX Discussion] When Making Graphics

When you guys are about to make your graphics, what do you do first?

Let's say you're about to make your piece of artwork on this render:

What's the first thing that comes up to your mind to do?
How do you know what resources fit best for the render?
How will you create the background?

You get what i'm trying to say?

I'm struggling when it comes these questions.

That render isn't really the best choice.
I like choosing renders with direction.

Eh, I chose a random render.
Can you give me an example of a render 'with direction'?

There, what do you mean effects?
Do you just randomly go to google and put in 'effects'?

When I use a render, I look for a background that has some elements of what ties in with the render.

    Example: Spiderman render.
    Buildings as background.

    Superman render.
    Daily Planet building as background.

With that render, I'd look up some energy effects. Something to do with lightning and stuff.

But the first thing I wanna do is figure out how I do the background, for example; do I do it by scratch or find a nice stock.

Renders with direction are just renders with flow. The easiest ones to work with.

    Now back to your thing.
I would start to find what fits the style and color scheme.
I would also find fitting backgrounds, c4d's and such.

For the render, I don't like renders that are too cluttered.
Renders with direction are commonly going to have a better outcome in my opinion.

i always look for inspiration first then i pick a render ,then i open the render in a separate window open my resource folder and gather everything that would go with that render, stocks on the BG always help dont matter if you end up covering most of it, and for that render that u picked a nice smudge with some lightning effects looks sick

    Ah ok, thanks.
But when you wanna do it by scratch, do you duplicate the render and smudge them?

i more or less always create my own background, from stocks i render them out then start from there. start with blending them together and creating the body
