Default AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE VS AMD Phenom II x6 1045T

Hey guys I bought most of my parts to build my computer but still need my processor and power supply (I chose some next cooler master one). The price for the AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE is $126.99 and the price for the AMD Phenom II x6 1045T is $129.97. Both are from Tiger direct and the AMD Phenom II x6 is on sale (13% off). The price difference is $2.98. Can someone please tell me fast which is a better processor for gaming? I'm going to get the processor like today (in like 2-3 hrs). Thanks

For gaming? The quad core (AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE). Most games don't use six cores.

Plus the clock speed on the x4 is much better.

JL took the words out of my mouth.

Any reason you're sticking with the older Phenoms? There's a lot of talk of the new Bulldozer architecture not being good, but mine performs well enough in gaming.

The reason I am sticking with the older Phenoms is cause my motherboard only supports Phenom and Intel i3, i5 and i7. I'm not purchasing the Intel CPU because they are kinda out of my price range.

Ah, thought it might be that. But there are plenty of benchmarks online that point people away from the Bulldozer processors, I didn't want one of those to discourage you.

The Phenom X4 will be just fine for gaming, and if you ever wanted to you could upgrade to an Intel.

    I ordered an intel core i5 3570k 3.4ghz lga1155 processor a few days ago.
I've always liked intel more than AMD. Personal preference or maybe there just better.
