Default Is computer programming really basically Algebra?

Title ^. I'm just wondering because I have the class next semester and it says I need a pre-req. of Algebra 1. Like which programming language is "algebra"? I've always wanted to learn Basic HTML, HTML, Assembly, Java, Javascript, (Don't know if they're the same thing.) because I want to create programs myself.

Robotics requires knowledge of geometry and algebra so i kinda expect the same thing for programming.

I think robot programming is algorithms.

Well, no. You need to know algebra, some calculus won't hurt, and trig is useful sometimes, however it's not all

    set x = 123
    x + 123 = 42

    etc.

Also know that in computer programming, you probably won't learn any of those languages you mention, you'd only have a SLIGHT chance on Java programming, but at my school the java programming class is an AP course.

And, HTML, and Javascript are used for web development, not really program making.
Java is used for games and programs and stuff
And Assembly you won't learn anywhere in the highschool enrollment; due to it being so low leveled of a language, people often over look assembly and use languages such as C++ that do all the tiny bits and pieces of programming for them. That was a kind of depressing post... sorry if it rained on your parade. :/

what crimson said is true, if you want to start with something simple go straight to autoit, once you get the basics down vb.net would be the next step

Computer programmers may be formally taught or self-taught. However, you're wise to get as much academic education as you can, since 60% of the programmers now working have at least a bachelor's degree. You'll learn the languages that computers know (COBOL, Java, C++), the more the better. Ideally, you'll get lots of programming experience during your studies
