Default Epic new TV, for HD and for gaming.

Earlier this week, LG held a launch event in Southern California to debut the companys first Ultra HD (4K) television at a sizable list price of $19,999. If you've never heard of Ultra HD, it's the term for the next generation of HD technology, featuring higher resolutions than 1080p. The LG 84LM9600 has a native screen resolution of 3840 x 2160, four times the resolution of a typical 1080p television. While the amount of content available in Ultra HD resolution is incredibly scarce at the moment, the 84-inch LED Ultra HD panel also includes LGs proprietary Resolution Upscaler Plus technology to up-convert 1080p content to the Ultra HD resolution. Regarding size, the 84-inch screen is the equivalent of four 42-inch, 1080p panels stacked in a rectangle shape.

While the television does include technology to allow consumers to watch 3D movies, an interesting feature directed at gaming consumers allows two players to play a multiplayer game without the need for split screen. Using glasses that are sold separately, the television is simultaneously displaying two video feeds and each pair of glasses is designed to pick up a specific feed.

Hopefully this becomes more price practical and this would be awesome.

Sony actually sells a pair of glasses that allows you to do that. Tried it out at best buy.

Wouldn't mind getting me a tv like that where it's at least 60% off lol .

I'm confused on their pricing of TVs... Now they're at most 5 grand, but with one with more resolution, they upped the price about 4 times. Makes no sense for me.

Well, it's about four times the size of a normal TV, considering it's an 84 inch, and the resolution is quadrupled as well. The price is subsequently four times as large.

No one needs a tv that big really, they can't really expect to sell.

I'm sure that was said about the current size TV's as well, Minnesota. There are some people out there that just have to have the next new and exciting thing, no matter the extravagance.

"some people out there" I don't know anyone in my entire town that would buy a $20,000 TV

That would be amazing. I would totally buy something like that. I hate playing split screen.
