Pirated. I have a feeling its the optical drive but I haven't a clue how to work out which it is, its stuck on windows is loading the files so i doubt the hdd is faulty. I'm just going to purchase full windows (oh mah gosh) and see if that fixes it.

I was thinking of installing linux to see if that would work, because thats the full os system not pirate so it should work, but i do think its hardware.
could anyone give a link for a bootable linux which i can put on cd?
btw, i originally intended it to be boot from usb but the motherboard wouldn't let it. just to add that.

Don't buy anything (like Windows) until you narrow down what the problem may be.
You could try using a flash drive for the installation and seeing if the error still occurs.

Oh just saw that, my bad.
What motherboard do you have? Make sure you're attempting to boot from USB ports that use the onboard chipset and not an external one (like VIA VL800) that you'd need to install the drivers to use. My motherboard (GA-Z77X-UD3H) only has two USB ports that work before you install the motherboard drivers, along with the case ports.
