Default US involvement in Syrian Crisis.

U.S. troops sent to guard border with Jordan as Syria crisis threatens to spill over.

The U.S. has come closer to intervening in the ongoing Syrian conflict by sending military troops to the country's border with Jordan.

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta today confirmed that American military personnel had joined their Jordanian allies to defend against the prospect of the violence spreading beyond Syria.

The posting is the U.S.'s most aggressive move so far in Syria's civil war, which has been raging for 19 months as rebels try to unseat president Bashar Assad.

Speaking at a NATO conference of defence ministers in Brussels, Mr Panetta said the U.S. has been working with Jordan to monitor chemical and biological weapons sites in Syria and also to help Jordan deal with refugees pouring over the border.

The revelation follows several days of shelling between Turkey and Syria, an indication that the war could spill across Syria's borders and become a regional conflict.

'We have a group of our forces there working to help build a headquarters there and to insure that we make the relationship between the United States and Jordan a strong one so that we can deal with all the possible consequences of what's happening in Syria,' Mr Panetta said.
The Defense Secretary and other administration officials have expressed concern about Assad's arsenal of chemical weapons. Mr Panetta said last week that while the weapons are still believed to be secure, intelligence suggests the regime might have moved the weapons to protect them.

I didn't realize this was in October. But I believe Fox news said something about the U.S deploying 75,000 troops to seize the chemical weapons, as it's believed Rebel forces has captured some Military bases with chemical weapons. Which will cost around $1 Billion. I haven't found any sources on this yet. Once I can find some new updates on this I shall post them.

    Fox News? Obvious crap.

Can the US Government suffice 75,000 troops into that region when they have enough troubles at home?

I've read several members of NATO like Germany and The Netherlands are offering several hundred/thousand troops in support to Turkey and that's pretty much.
