Whats your view on war?
Recently in speech class, we were asked to write a speech on a topic we believed in. One thing led to another and we got into the subject of war.
We had a huge class discussion/argument about how war is dumb or how war is needed to survive. Whats your opinion on war?
Personally, I see it as one group trying to force their beliefs onto another group. There really cant be a winner.

There will always be war in this world. Peace and war are both natural human instincts. We are always going to disagree with each other and sometimes that will lead to violent conflicts. Its just what happens.
EDIT - Someone should probably move this to War, War, and More War because i bet this will be a heated topic soon enough.

Whats your view on war?
War is just a battle between two or more parties for power and control. No one wins in the end only the people caught in the middle of it lose.

Greediness leads to war. There will never be peace on this earth, the thoughts of humans does not support peace because they always want more and more. If everyone could realize that if we were all happy and peaceful, the world would be a better place. I mean look at the WWI and WWII, almost completely based on greediness, the want for land or more power. Hitler was a greedy man who wanted extreme power, and got it. The thing is once he had all that he hoped for, he wanted more and more which is what led to conflicts. People in this world are understanding and know that if someone is greedy every once in a while it is ok and doesn't bother them, but when they want more and more, it gets annoying and you get pissed.
In other words, if you gave a friend a ride home once and everyones cool cause it was just once time, but then they keep asking for more and more rides and it gets you mad. This stuff goes on everywhere and when it reaches a certain point, people don't know how to handle it with words, they go straight to violence.
I am also in speech class and if you are doing a persuasion speech, I would go with for war and use ideas supporting that there will never be peace on earth and war is the only war to keep a peace-like feeling.

War is like giving a kid candy. Once you give it to him he's gonna want more. To me most nations just fight so that they can benefit themselves more and get their ideas across better by forcing them or by threatening them too.

WAR is the rage of the human. Our nature is to fight. To protect what we care at all cost. But it leads from a match of anger, to a fire of death. It becomes a wild fire eating up every thing in its path. Killing, destroying, burning. It kills for fear, but does not wanna show it. It feeds of hate, its coal to the fire. It keeps killing burning it will not stop. Until it gets to the water. It's can't burn water, so it eventualy burns out. It got what it wanted. But it left a path of blood and hate, making the coal get ready for the fire and of will burn harder every time. Until every last ash is burned. Just burned. Nothing left to kill. You just won the war its over. But it just began

I've always seen war as something that doesnt have to be done. Killing other people to get what we want shouldnt be something high on the list of priorities. War drives people insane, it causes thousands of people grief over lost loved ones. It cant help anyone but I can understand why some people would think its needed. Nice to hear these things from other peoples view points.

I think it's necessary, and there is no way to avoid it.

I don't think murder should be alright just because the government says it is. If a civilian murders someone everyone looks down on them and calls them a murderer. If a solder murders someone they are respected and called a hero.
Either way you look at it you are killing people. People that have families and a life just like you but die because our governments say to.
I can understand killing someone in self defense to protect yourself or the people you care about but some wars are just for the government to gain what they want.
The government doesn't care who you are or what you did for them, if you die fighting for them you are just a statistic. A pawn in there game of chess.
Don't flame me for this, it's just my opinion. Not trying to disrespect anyone.
