Default Petite Square; an elegant , powerful wooden bluetooth speaker.

If you’re in the market for a wireless Bluetooth speaker, you won’t have to look far to see some good options. There’s the Jawbone Jambox and the Beats Pill, and countless other offerings from the likes of Logitech, JBL and Bose.

But what if you want something more elegant-looking? Like maybe perhaps with a vintage wooden enclosure? Then your options become a lot more limited. Luckily, we’re adding another one to that list today with the Petite Square.

The Petite Square is a wooden bluetooth speaker which, its developers say, was built utilizing unique craftsmanship skills that were passed down through many generations. It’s tiny, like the name suggests, and built out of a very rare wood.

It’s called Ancient Kauri, and at 50,000 years-old, it’s supposedly the oldest timber in the world than can be hand-crafted. They say they picked it for both its vintage aesthetics and its naturally warm acoustics, after hearing a Kauri violin.

But enough about how it looks, what about its capabilities? Surprisingly, the Petite Square is very powerful. It houses a 2-inch full-range speaker driver with a CLASS T TRIPATH amplifier and a passive bass radiator to keep you rocking.

Additionally, each Petite Square speaker can be linked to another one using the supplied 3.5mm cable for stereo sound. And its built-in battery is a custom Lipo pack, of the 2500mAh variety, that’s capable of an impressive 15+ hours of play.

If you’re interested in the Square, make sure you visit its Indiegogo page and check out the project. The developers are trying to raise $45,000 in 40 days to fund production of the speaker, and a pledge of just $59 puts you on the pre-order list.

I have to admit, the Petite Square is one of the better-looking Bluetooth speakers I’ve seen to date — I love the wood-styling. And when you add to that its 15+ hour battery life and sub-$100 price tag, you have a pretty compelling product.

not bad. i like the whole wooden elegant look, but it would also be cool to take an existing speaker and do this too it. for those not so craft savy (such as myself) this sounds good
