Getting RAM on a laptop...
Well my graphic design class is getting free laptops (party), I looked up the specs online, and it comes with 1GB of ram (but a normal 450GB to save stuff).
1GB of RAM sucks... but it can save a good amount of data. I was wondering what kind of RAM I could buy, things i'll need to know, maybe a link of where to go?
Thanks in advance.

Get 8gb ram seeing as your getting a free laptop you might as well spend a lil extra on ram?

1GB of RAM for a graphics class? Photoshop will take a day and a half to open up. Better put 8GB in that bitch.

You don't need 8GB for PS.
Stop comparing hard drive space to memory, they're not the same thing and not comparable. It's like comparing CPU cache to RAM, there's just no point.

RE: Getting RAM on a laptop...
If it only comes stock with one gig of ram, then I can imagine the processor isn't very powerful either (which you need to run PS).
If you get four gigs you'll be fine.
