This tutorial might not be important for everyone, however it will be useful for those who are unable to access the PSN on their PS3 (if it was jailbroken or YLOD).

Previously, if you wanted to deactivate your games console from the PSN, you had to do it via the console itself. Now, if your PS3 was jailbroken or had the yellow light of death error or was stolen, you would not be able to deactivate it.

This situation with accounts became even more problematic when Sony decided to cut down the amount of consoles which you could have your PSN account activated on from 5 devices to 2. Previously, the only way to get your PSN account cleared from all devices was to ring Sony. Now, you are able to deactivate your account via the SEN website.

First, you need to go to this link: https://account.sonyentertainmentnet...c/login.action and then follow the steps which I have provided below.

  • Step 1: After logging in, navigate to the Devices tab (this will allow you to see how many consoles you have activated on your PSN account).
  • Step 2: Navigate to the Accounts tab.
  • Step 3: Once in the Accounts section, navigate to the Media and Devices sub section.
  • Step 4: Click on "Games". Once you have done that, all of the consoles associated with your PSN account will be unable to use any of the game downloads.

You will need to wait around half an hour or so before you are able to reactivate your account on the console.

Just to clarify why you would need to do this method:

  • Your console is broken, so you obviously cant connect to PSN to deactivate.
  • You have a Jailbroken console, so cant connect to PSN to deactivate.
  • You remained on firmware 3.15 to keep the OtherOS function,
  • Sony has barred your access to PSN.
  • You have game shared and the other people wont deactivate, also helps with those scammed through game sharing.
  • You are getting a Vita and want to deactivate a slot, but cant do because of one of the above.
  • You want to deactivate all consoles at once.
