    Question [Help] Coding

Okay, so I just got a USB Gecko and I know how to set it up and so unknown searches but I've never made a code so I'm trying and need some help. Okay so I've been hacking Super Mario Galaxy 2 and I got these addresses when trying to make infinite lives:

    Address---Old Value---Value
    04E40E78 03000000 03000000
    04E43D34 03000000 03000000
    05182B30 00000003 00000003
    05184C2C 00330000 00330000
    05184E80 00330000 00330000

How do I set up the code and do these addresses even look like inf lives?

If you haven't made a code yet, I recommend starting with known searches, because they are the most direct, easiest searches. I don't know if your searches are correct, but if I had to guess one of these as the code, I would guess this one: 05182B30 00000003 00000003

Sometimes if you can't narrow your searches down anymore than you have, so you are just going to have to test each address one by one. Sometimes it is just trial and error, and you can find some pretty cool effects with some addresses by doing this.

Be careful when coding SMG, if I'm not mistaken, it has something called Dynamic Memory Allocation, or DMA (refer to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtTk73vQkX8 ) and you're going to have to use ASM or F6 to get around this. If you don't the code won't work all the time, and it has the possibility of freezing.

Do you have any games that you would think would be easier then this? Even if you have to recreate a code that someone has already made, (don't give yourself credit, you'll just get called a faggot, use it for learning purposes,) then do it. For instance, say you're playing a game like Wii Sports. You go to make an overall point mod for bowling, but noticed that Poptart Hunter has made it before you. Since you're still learning, keep on that path! Just don't cheat yourself and look at his address and claiming you found it, if you don't understand how he got there.

Coding takes time. And A LOT of practice. I still have to refer to my notebook full of coding tips occasionally, when I do something more in depth like walking the stack. I would've thought that I could have understood it by now, but apparently not. Keep it up, I hope to see some NEW and UNIQUE codes from you.

I understand once I test a code I'm supposed to look it up to see if I was the first to find the address. And thanks Austin I'm looking forward to releasing codes and helping people.

If you need help, let me know (more in depth then what we've been doing over PM,) I'm glad to help, and you might inspire me to dust off my gecko and plug it back in. Also, when googling addresses to see if you were the original creator, only search the address, not the value. Just thought you should know. Good luck. I believe between the threads and our PMs, you're ready to go make your first code. ^-^

Really makes me happy to see people making codes. Glad to see that the tradition of coding for fun isn't dead yet. Keep up the good work.

Well, I've always wanted to code, but something always stopped me. Sense the other day that my friend was telling me he wanted to code inspired me. So I started looking up shit and found what i have now. I'm at the verge of making my first code, but I'm still testing. Once I learn more code types and make a hole bunch of codes for offline games I'll start on COD. For now I need to learn.

Don't learn just code types, learn ASM as well. That becomes EXTREMELY handy. Only use it once you've used the 04/05, 06/07, 08/09, and 20-29 codetypes.
