PS4/Xbox One Estimated Pricing
So according to Michael Pachter the price point for the new Xbox One will be $400 and the PS4 $350.
Say the cost to make each individual Xbox is $325 ($75 profit) and $275 for a PS4 (also $75 profit)
Which in my opinion for a next gen console is pretty good. If the PS4 does really debut at $350 im picking one up as soon as i can. A $50 difference isn't all that much but $350 seems a bit more appealing to the eye. Especially with parents mindlessly buying their kids these things around the holidays, the cheaper the better.
The Xbox 360 launched in 2005 for $300/$400, while the PlayStation 3 debuted in 2006 for $500/$600. Quite the price difference but i hope they learned from their mistakes and with the economy the way it is, it'd be stupid to take a risk. Cut your losses and play it safe.

The reason the consoles were so expensive last gen is because they put top of the line hardware in them. They had to sell them for the costs they did, or they would lose money (which they did when they were forced to cut prices by the market). Both companies only managed to earn money in the beginning through software sales. If anything, they were playing it safe at first by charging the higher prices, because then they had a stable source of profit, rather than the variable software sales.

The "Mistake" reference wasn't jabbing at the PS3 it was about the Vita. You cant make a handheld the same price as a console people just see no value in it plus with the lack of games etc. (I know there is a lot of games for the Vita but pretty much nobody knows about them) and yes i understand the hardware isnt cheap to make but like i said it was a risk and it didn't really pay off.

Alright, that I can agree with. My bad, I thought you were referencing consoles only. The Vita was supposed to be amazing, and then they released it before it was truly ready. They really dropped the ball on that; almost as bad as Microsoft seems to be dropping the ball with the Xbox One.

I heard that Patcher is a very unreliable source. I wouldn't trust what he says.

Well i suppose why they have yet to drop the price of the Vita is because "every" game on the PS4 will be supported on the vita via cross play or whatever the fuck it's called. If they can pull that off then im all in for a Vita. But until thats proven im keeping my money in my wallet.
