Xbox One to perform online checks every 24 hours, every hour if playing on separate console
"The Xbox One will need to be connected to the internet every 24 hours when playing games on your home console, or every hour when accessing your digital library from a different console, Microsoft announced today."
" Each game you own is digitally installed to your account using cloud services. Every 24 hours, an online check is required to ensure that you still own the license for the copy of the game you're playing. You can also access your account and its associated games on a friend's console, but online checks are performed every hour when attempting to play remotely in this manner. The policy lines up with what Polygon heard from our sources shortly after the console's reveal."
""Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies"
^Yea because i buy a "Video Game Console" to watch fucking movies and TV on it.....*Cough*
Man Microsoft is seriously fucking up, they have no idea how bad they are going to make out. Don't get me wrong a lot of people are still going to buy the console but come on. People don't want all this shit. All this extra bullshit is so unnecessary and not to mention hypocritical.
Why do i say it's Hypocritical? Because with last gen and Sony is guilty for this too, they put such a big emphasis on "Pick up and play"
But now you're contradicting yourselves by adding all these fucking extra features. I can't hand my buddy the controller unless he's been recognized by the Xbox. What happens if my kinect breaks? Is the Xbox then a fucking paper weight until i get a new one? (Now all these aren't literal but i'm getting to the point here)
When i bring a game to my friends house i have to log into my account through his Xbox register the game yada yada then i can play? Yes that is until we bug your ass every hour for an Online licensing check...standard with the Xbox One.....uh gee thanks....i guess.
That's equivalent to your parents opening your door every five minutes to talk to you while you're trying to rub one off, get the picture? It's fucking annoying and unnecessary.
Yes i know the whole point is to prevent piracy but the shit is going to happen anyways, and if you alter your ways you can beat it.
For example when Netflix releases in other countries the torrent traffic plummets, because if you're willing to provide people with HD top of the line products at a reasonable price they will buy it. I bet more than half of the people on CL have Netflix. It's just easy, no downloads it's just right there at your fingertips. Fuck it $8 a month for pure convenience.
Off topic but i think you see what i'm getting at. They are heading in a direction i think they will regret. I know a lot of this shit is easier said than done but they'll have to make a decision sooner or later.
Meanwhile Steam is just kicking their ass and they choose the opposite business model. They offer (most of the time) triple A games a $40 right of the bat while Sony and Microsoft charge $60. This goes right back to the Netflix reference. High Quality low cost content will sell better if you take the chance. People are more prone to buy it over torrenting it.
"Torrenting will still be popular" Yea well no shit, the point is they will be making more profit in the end.

I love Microsoft, but they are truly failing with this console so far.
Their is gonna be so much banning lol. Anyways they are doing way to much shit to this console. This>>>>Each game is digitally installed to your console <<<.Thats exactly why im getting a ps4 and not xbox one
Sounds like you might be able to "Gameshare" in a way.
I like Microsoft except their gaming.
wow. Makes me nervous about the playstation.
Sounds more like Xbox One Nine Eight Four
Time to fuck the system.
I could care less about Windows, except for the Windows phone, I just don't like Microsoft. I use a Windows computer, but I'd prefer a Mac if they weren't so expensive. If Microsoft didn't manage their consoles the way they do I'd think about switching, but Playstation seems much better.

Microsoft does more than making game consoles, so it's not at all like saying that.
Hoping the PS4 isn't anything like this. The 24 hour check just really kills it for me. Definitely not getting this if it ends up being as bad as it looks right now.
