Statements on Microsoft's website suggest the console will be region locked until 'late 2014' and disclaimers on the official website suggest that the Xbox One will not work in “un-supported” countries.
The post on the Xbox website warned users that “Xbox One games are for activation and distribution only in specified geographic regions” and this message has been supported by tweets from Xbox’s official Support accounts on Twitter, the @XboxSupport account, which confirmed that “The Xbox One will only be available in the 21 launch countries” and users from these countries (including Poland, India, Japan and many others) will have to “wait until the console is available in their region.”
For those that had hoped to travel with their Xbox the advice from Microsoft was ‘take an Xbox 360’.
The full list of Xbox One supported countries is as follows:
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Russia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States

"No-one will buy this piece of shit now" - Bill Gates
Oh.
I thought this was gonna be some troll thread where you're just like "HA! BECAUSE AFRICA DOESN'T HAVE ELECTRICITY!".
I like Xbox, but the thing that's actually been making me want to switch is the constant paying for online access. Even before the Xbox one and PS4 were officially announced, I was planning on switching to Playstation so that I wouldn't have to spend so much money just to play some games with my friends. And although this doesn't really affect me, I can see this pissing off a lot of people, if they aren't pissed off already.
^that was fuckn funny
but ye only like 5 people are gonna buy this piece of shit console, its kind of sad actually
microsoft is so stupid
I thought something similar when I was reading the original article. They appear to be digging their whole deeper and deeper and I don't see a ladder.
funny thing is they dont even work in Japan xD
Looked at the list three times only to see Japan not there.
After the US, it's the biggest game market and whilst the 360 never got the "sales" over there, it does seem like Microsoft isn't interested in being part of the 100 Million+ sales possible there.
Microsoft blows. This is just making Sony look better and better by the day.
iz the illerminaty i telld yuo.
Anyway what are they trying to do, seriously, they're only going downhill more and more.
