Well I was following a tutorial on getting a 3rd party theme and I did something wrong to the shell32.dll and now when I log on it just shows a black screen.
You can catch me on Skype and on my iPod or tapatalk.
So use a restore point or just wipe it and reinstall windows.
I can't do anything. It just shows a black screen and that is it. No icons or nothing.
Restore points are available before it boots completely into Windows, and you can install a new OS without touching Windows at all, provided you can get to another computer to download the .iso and burn it to something.
Okay with what you just said, how can I do that, the restore point that is.
When you turn it on start slamming that f8 key

Dude just restore it to a previous date and itll be all good
Okay, first mistake you made was trying to edit system files without first trying it in a virtual machine, second is that you made no plans in the event that something did go wrong (I.e. Windows 7 usb install disk, backups), third is that probably followed some Youtube tutorial or skipped steps.
If you can't boot into your system recovery partition, make a Windows 7 recovery flash drive and boot into that, let it try to auto detect the problem and attempt to fix it. That or just reinstall Windows over your current installation.
You could also try replacing those system files you messed with under a live version of Linux, that is if you know what you're doing. By looking at this thread though, you don't seem that you would know much about achieving something such as that without making things worse. Goodluck though.
