So I know lots of you are good with computers, So I figured I would ask here.
Would it be more or less expensive to buy a new computer (desktop or laptop havent decided yet) or upgrade my own?

Depends what u currently have, but 99% of the people here would say to upgrade/build your own.

Like he said, depends on your current specs. Personally I'd say build your own, but it also depends on what you intend to use it for.

I would have no clue what I would be doing if I built my own though, that is the problem. Is newegg a reliable source?

Watch newegg's "How to build a PC" tutorial on YouTube. That's what i got my initial knowledge from; it's not as hard as you might think.

Does it tell me what I'm going to need?

Newegg isn't necessarily a source. It is a place to buy parts. They do post reviews and stuff on the parts, but they are trying to sell the stuff so it is in a way biased. Check out their youtube channel though.
