Future PS3/PS Vita PlayStation Plus Free Games Discussed, DriveClub Staying Free....
With the entire list of September 2013 PlayStation Plus free games for Europe detailed earlier today, a lot of people on the EU PS Blog asked Chris Howe, PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus Content Manager at SCEE, about the future of Plus in Europe.
Starting with what we won’t see, Chris said that One Piece: Pirate Warriors isn’t “scheduled for Plus anytime soon,” but there may be a discount coming out soon though, likely to drum up hype for the impending sequel. As well, neither Rayman Origins or the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on PS3 are slated to join the Instant Game Collection anytime soon, with Binary Domain and NBA 2K13 unlikely to appear in all European countries after being given as replacements recently in select countries.
Next up, Chris said that none of the following games are planned for the IGC at present – Killzone 3, Street Fighter x Tekken (PS3), Max Payne 3, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3), Darksiders 2, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (PS Vita), Everybody’s Golf (PS Vita) – making sure to note that it doesn’t mean they won’t come in the future though.
For your last game being shot down, Chris simply said of LittleBigPlanet, “LBP will not be in the IGC.”
In happier news, Chris confirmed that two of these following games are planned to be added in the Instant Game Collection soon, but he couldn’t say exactly which ones:
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation (PS Vita)
Far Cry 3 (PS3)
Guacamelee! (PS3/PS Vita)
Hotline Miami (PS3/PS Vita)
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita (PS Vita)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (PS Vita)
PixelJunk Monsters (PS Vita)
Plants vs. Zombies (PS Vita)
As for DriveClub and its PlayStation Plus Edition that will be available at launch, alongside ResoGun, Chris confirmed we’ll still be seeing it in the IGC at least until March 2014, with ResoGun and its subsequent replacements rotating out every month.
Due to people buying games once they go on sale, only to have them be free on PlayStation Plus shortly after, someone asked Chris what the rules are for getting titles added to the IGC. Here’s what he had to say:
"There are no rules, we work with publishers and our own studios to work out the best time for a title to go into Plus. There will always be an element of bad luck involved if you happen to have brought a title just before it goes into Plus but I guess that is just like for example buying a TV and then seeing it two or three days later in a sale."
Finally, Chris teased that there might be a discount on Dead or Alive 5 Plus for PlayStation Vita and Assassin’s Creed III content very soon, so stay tuned for details.
Good for PS+ users.
