What is success?
What do you think a successful life is? What makes a successful person?
(This is purely my opinion on it, so no offence meant)
I've read quite a bit on this and from what I've learnt I think success in life is achieving a goal that a person has made for themselves. Be it being a successful parent, chef, teaching, writing ANYTHING. It doesn't matter how well paid or if there is even pay, but as long as you enjoy the job, its rewarding to you and its what you want to do.
Unsuccessful people fail to reach a goal, or they settle for whats easiest/lets them get by or what is already theirs. Be it a job that they don't like doing but pays the bills to keep them stable. I meet new people all the time, and I ask them what they work as and do they enjoy it, no one has yet said yes I really enjoy my job or its what I've always wanted to do(although maybe I'm just asking the wrong kind of people). They instead say "a jobs a job". This is just wrong(imo), why would someone settle for something they do not enjoy and will end up doing for the rest of their lifes. I personally aspire to do something meaningful/productive with my life and I've told friends/teachers/family about my long term plans and I keep getting the same kind of reply's although obviously not as blunt as this; that its too difficult a goal to reach and I'm better to aim lower and achieve my goal, rather than aim high and face failure. I don't know who said it but I believe that in making a plan B, you have already admitted defeat to Plan A
I recently watched a video that did a survey of 20 random people on a high street. They were asked "why do you work? Why do you get up in the morning", to which 19/20 of them had no idea and if you asked them, they said everyone goes to work in the morning and because everyone else is doing it.

Without reading anything you said, I would say Success is different from person to person, but in my opinion it's living a life where you are happy. Being poor does not mean you are unsuccessful, and being rich does not make you successful, it's how you choose to live those lifestyles.

I think success is when you've done something truly meaningful with your life.

If your goal is to be a bum in life and you are then you are technically successful.
Success is only measured by how far you set your goals.

Success goes with your happiness, if you are happy with what you are doing, then you are successful, if you are miserable then you are considered unfortunate(unsuccessful), everyone has clay in front of them and can mold it to the shape/form they want it to be, you're what you make your life to be and helps you achieve happiness and success.

Success varies from person to person. Some people set very low goals so success comes easy to them, some people challenge themselves with goals set above average. However, achieving goals is not succeeding in life. For example, my goal is to have beautiful sex with a woman or 50. Sure, thats a goal, it will not make me successful in life (unless I want to be a pornstar) THERE IS THAT WORD THOUGH. "Want" success is being able to have or achieve what you want. What you have always wanted. My definition of successful is getting married to a woman I love, making her shit out a kid or 2 (3 being the most) and have a job that allows me to spend time with my family, support my family, and still have the opportunity to have a good time. I'm so deep tonight. Why.
