Default Is this a good starter kit?

I'm looking to get into electronics a bit as a side hobby during my free time. I'm not looking to create computer motherboard, but maybe just take apart some old toys and rewire or combine them to do other things than what they are intended for. Like example, take a board from a toy that made noise when you pressed a button, and put that inside a calculator so every time you press a button, it makes noise. I'm just curious, is this a good shopping cart for messing around with that intention?

Yeah, it looks fine, all the basic tools you'd need to do what you described. Might want to get some thin wire too

Yeah if you have any electronics question, talk to me, I've been through all 3 years and doing a 4th just for fun. I have the basic knowledge plus Digital and solid state, if you need ideas, or project(instructables have that) or any tips/tricks to help make your soldering look good or more professionally, or need any boards made for specific circuits to send you tell me, PM/Skype/Kik etc.

I would get a protoboard(bread board) for your testing, a 9v battery and I will teach you how to make your own power supply if you'd like, also I'd get perf boards too. Unless your planning on getting these from school, I would message me for an entire part list.

A solder sucker and I would get a wire kit and such, also if you want to get into programming again/coding without a wii, buy an arduino and ill show you the fun of that here is a picture of an arduino if you never seen one. Well chum PM me if you want full on details of what you'll need and what you can do. It's alot of stuff that fills my basement and helps alot.

Alright, I'll just buy what I currently have in my cart since you guys approve of it all.

@PvtRyan, I'm starting cheap right now. Later on when I get used to this, I'll get into that "arduino" thing you are talking about because it looks pretty cool from what I've seen from you with it. I'll surely pm you if I have questions.

Cool and basically for a slow start out I would have the following:
    Solder
    Soldering iron
    Wire clippers
    Wire strippers
    A protoboard
    Desoldering tools
A fan(to prevent that cancer from the solder)
    And parts you'll need.
I wish you luck and if you need a site for cheap parts PM me my electronics class had the magazines and I have the websites for like a pack of 100 resistors to be like 2$ or LEDs to be .56 per at a good rate I do wish you luck! And hope you have fun. I got my soldering iron for 10$ at RadioShack and the High Intensity LEDs were like 3.39$ for 2. Lol I found 1 pack with 3 LEDs in so I'm like, ill buy it :P
