How the Shutdown Effects Me
We all know that the government shutdown recently, over a vote.
Well let me start this off. My stepmom works for Department of Homeland Security (immigration). She still has to go to work everyday and continue on.
Except one thing is and is going to be very different. She is not getting paid for her work. The government is funding this and not paying until the government is opened back up.
It is highly unlikely that the government will pay her for the work done during the shutdown.
She filed for unemployment and was ineligible, due to the fact she is still eligible for work.
It is bad enough my dad works for the state of Vermont and they pay him worth shit. I am going to have to get a job next month (when I turn 15) to help support the family if the shutdown continues.
How does the shutdown effect you, or your family directly?

Lol. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one affected.
My parents are getting divorced, for real this time. My dad moved to an apartment, and my mom keeps our house. My mom works for the IRS so she got laid off, and my dad is a plumber so it doesn't really effect him. It sucks that your step mom has to work for nothing, but at least she gets to work? Plus some benefits might come later on down the road. We're struggling with our payments as is, and with my mom out of work it's even worse. We'll probably have to move. Lol. This government bullshit tho.

Honestly, you are reacting like an idiot about this. Do you really thing this is going to last more than 2 weeks? I don't think you are going to die from 2 weeks without pay. Your mom is still going to get paid, just not until all of this is settled out and the federal funds are replenished. Unemployment submissions currently aren't being reviewed because of the obvious overload of forms being turned in as a result of the situation, and they wouldn't do much because unemployment checks are federal funded anyways. Just wait it out. Everybody is being an idiot about this.
