Thread: Password Recovery?
10-02-2013, 06:59 AM #1
So basically my mom forgot her password to her account, this happened while it was broken and unusable. Is there any free program that doesn't require me to buy something or boot from a disc or USB? Or a trick to get into it and change the password? (Keep in mind she is the only Administrator)

Best way to do this is through a bootable USB/Disc. In all honesty. Windows 7, as far as I know, has no "tricks" to reset the administrator password or any user account passwords.

Yep. If you have (or can get) the Win7 recovery/install disc iso, and either have it on a drive or disc, you can boot into a command prompt window, and reset it from there.
Both the x86 and x64 repair ISOs can allegedly be found here, or you can find a torrent or the like, if this is an option. I don't believe it is a very large file, <1GB, but I may be wrong.
Alternatively, you could try logging into the account "Administrator," however it may be disabled by default, in which case you would not be able to.
