How to edit the games Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion
For anyone who want to learn about game design, this is a great first step. Double Helix is a program that allows a person to open a MZM or Fusion ROM and edit anything from, Enemy AI (Hex editor also needed for that), graphics, game physics, text, music, sprites, animations, and the world. It is more geared toward Zero Mission than Fusion but both edit fairly easy. The main things you need to know to edit is layer and clipdata. I will explain layer data and a video will explain about clipdata (video is by the creator of the program). I suggest having a back-up ROM in case something should go wrong.
Layer DataFirst Open DH and click on a MZM or Fusion ROM
Next you will notice that 3 windows opened. (this is normal) http://prntscr.com/2n8jw8
The sprite window controls what tile you will be placing in the Map window. Which is what you see in-game.
Make sure this is checked. http://prntscr.com/2n8kp6
Then click a tile in the sprite window and place it in the Map Window. http://prntscr.com/2n8lf2
Then once you are satisfied click save. http://prntscr.com/2n8lly
Now if you go test it, wait, you are going strait through the structure you made!
