Not only are there heat spreaders on the vram chips, but a huge heatsink with four nickle plated heatipipes for the GPU itself is also stacked on the card.

If you're mounting your motherboard vertical in a case, make sure you have something to support your graphics cards, over time they will sag and warp. I've had this happen with an old 5830 I used constantly. It was a sad day when I couldn't solder shit back together. However, when mounting horizontal, no biggie.

And make sure you have your card fans on high too. A cool card is a happy card.
I think you have the directions swapped.

Nice info! I have an extra box fan on top of mine

Shit, now that I remember, the 5830 that crapped out on me was on a BTX board, so it was facing a different direction. But the cards I've got now are on an ATX board, and they're a bit heavy so I've got zipties holding them up just in case.

Complexity is only going to go up, best to start as soon as you can, esp. with the dedi miners

I agree with Fatal. The board you've got only has a 970 chipset. You'd be better off with a 990 chipset.

Update: Going to start buying parts this week. I'm really excited to start mining!
Edit: Getting gridseeds will save me money on the power supply and electricity, I'm not sure if i should go with those or GPU's Help a brother decide. Gridseed link http://www.finalhash.com/product/gri...et-up-non-pop/
