    Default Windows 8.1 > Windows 7??

So basically i went from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8.1 Pro. seems weird but... it performs so much faster than 7.

    With Windows 7:
*took 2 minutes+ to boot up
*took 5 minutes to start up completely
    *CPU sometimes skyrocketed
*crappy performance with games and loading applications

    With Windows 8.1:
*took a minute or less to boot up and start up completely
*CPU stays steady even with games
*actually good performance; everything starts up just about after i click it.

Well i dunno. some say that Windows 7 is better. i guess with my opinion and my system, windows 8.1 would be my choice.

    Specs:
    Acer Aspire 5253
    Windows 8.1 Build 9600 32-bit
    AMD E-350 1.6Ghz (Dual-Core)
    AMD Raedon 6310 HD
    4GB RAM

It does have low specs, yes i know. not all of us are made of money but it actually plays MW3 with a steady 40-60 fps. i was surprised. its decent, but its not great.

I agree, it's bad when you have to make a short cut just to get to basic shit.

Windows 8 sucked, the 8.1 update made it better a bit.

I can at least play music from the desktop and change to different apps or go to the start screen with out the computer muting it. That was total bullshit.

And since I have 8.1 on my tablet, I've been getting pretty good with the flicks and shit, but still sucks when trying to find device manager or trying to get bluetooth to work right.

I use ClassicShell to get my start menu back using Win8.1.

You can even add your own start button image if you find one that you like.

There's an option inside the settings of ClassicShell so you can change the height and width of the start button, in case the image looks too big, or it hangs off the screen.

Thankfully the start menu is making a return in a future Windows 8 update:

It looks like a nice blend between the start screen and the start menu.

I don't know why everyone makes a big deal about that start button honestly, I never really used it much when it was an option nor will I when it becomes an option again. Non the less very happy with speed of Windows 8.1 and I just overall like it more then Windows 7.
