Default Getting straights on my car soon.

About what the end result will be. Same car, same year, same setup in place.

Never said it was a race car. How's yours been running lately?

Why straights? Don't V's usually have a greater power output?

In most cases, yeah. I'm not going for true straights, only a muffler delete. It's literally all it sounds like, just a removal of the mufflers with straight pipe welded in place. Any power gain or loss won't even be noticeable.

I was actually looking at a couple different 2001-2002 Toyota Celica GT-S' not too long ago. Considered getting one as a toy.

Well, Toyota all together is a super easy car to work on. Unless it's one of those new hybrid shits.

Parts interchange a lot of times with different models and years, and aftermarket are incredibly easy to find. Even for an older Toyota.

Though, my 1986 Toyota Celica GTS is all stock and Toyota branded parts. (No aftermarket at all) Still 104k miles

Huh?? No way, the more it breathes the better power output. (in and out)
But, but an electronic monitored and regulated car like that one you will notice no change other than more noise.
You would need to reprogram the ecm to utilize the better breathing for any more power.

To Icee, the cackle sound you hear when the accelerator is lifted is the sound of cold air entering back into the exhaust system. Prolonged cold air reentering the exhaust can cause premature valve failure. (exhaust valve cracking, valve guides wearing out, and valve seat damage)
If you must remove the muffler make sure you leave the resonator and catalytic converter connected. Those should keep most of the air from deceleration from making it back to the head. (at least still cold) The oldsmobile auroras sound mean with flowmaster 40 series on them. And no cackling. (no cold air returning causing that backfire yes the cackling is backfiring)

Here's good places to buy flowmasters.

I was actually surprised you had a read-worthy reply. Just one note to you though, I'm only taking the mufflers off. The cat and resonator are staying in place. I don't have the cash to put Flowmasters on it right now, but it is something I'll probably consider come next year.

And as for the cold runs, she never sees over 3k RPM until the motor hits 200F. I barely ever run wide open anyways unless some ricer kid tries to pull on me on the highway. Usually makes them pretty upset.
