    Default Dual boot help

I have Mavericks installed alongside windows 7 on my pc, mac is installed on a partition of my old hardrive.

During boot i am given 2 options, SSD or Harddrive. both boot into windows

the only way i am able to boot into mac is to leave my flashdrive in and to use an external boot manager to select the partition to boot off of. which is tedious and quite frankly i need to use the flash drive for other things.

Can anyone provide a solution? im new to the dual boot game

You will have to somehow remove the windows bootloader off of the primary hard drive.
You could maybe partition some space for a linux os and install it via your usb with an installer of course. Then it should take the primary position and allow for options on which os you want. Just read up on some of the linux forums. I know others have had this issue over there and have resolved it.

Figured out my bios need updating.

After a little inspecting i got curious and installed debian on a partition of my ssd and my bootloader shit the bed. Apparently i have like a c rated motherboard and it cant handle multiple os's on the same drive, partions are invisible to it It cant boot into windows, linux, or mac without returning a boot error.

Im still able to force it to boot off my usb and that allows me to select what partition im booting off of. Its a little tedious but for the time being i guess ill have to deal with it till i can flash my bios or figure something else out

Damn I was really hoping you would respond to him since you seem to know a good deal about hackintosh.

I assume. I installed it using multibeast and it came up as a success.

Also note that as said before, none of my drives boot. the only way i can get to my os is forcing my bios to boot to a bootmanager on my flash drive

The bootmanager you're booting to on your flash drive is Chameleon. Some motherboards don't like to boot to UEFI bootloaders that aren't Windows 8 UEFI loaders that are on the internal HDD, which is why it boots correctly from the flash drive because you more than likely have legacy USB booting in your BIOS/UEFI. Haven't really found a work around for that other than a 215MB flash drive attached to my keys for whenever I need to boot into OS X.

Multibeast is shunned by most of the Hackintosh community because it's not open source and a lot of it is stolen, which is why it's not open source because the guy who made it likes being a smug bastard.

Head over to insanelymac.com for more help than I am capable of giving, just don't mention Multibeast or the creator on the site, you will be ignored by them.
