    Default Buying a TV

I'm getting a TV for Christmas and I need some advice. I have no clue whether I should get LED or plasma, and I don't know if I should look into smart TV's or not. I'm looking for something ~50 inches and around $500. Help pl0x.

I wouldn't go with a smart tv. We have LED and got it for like $250.

NEVER GET PLASMA UNLESS YOU WANT A HUNK OF SHIT IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS.

I'd go with LED, fuck a smart TV's OS. Make yourself a small computer to wire up to HDMI for a smart computer that you can access with other computers/phones.

But for real, Plasma has been fading out in the recent years, it's got great performance, but shitty lifespan.

LED and OLED are what are big now, performance for LED is near close to that or Plasma, and OLED is like smoking crack and going to the god damn moon. It's pretty fucking great.

i personally favor plasma due to the contrast ratios. however, they use a ton of power and get pretty hot.

LED is the way to go.

Plasma is becoming obsolete and they don't last very long. If you get a "Smart TV" you're just paying extra for apps that are on any bluray player or console anyway.

If you ever want a smart TV, remember there's Apple TV, Chromecast, any computer plug into the TV via HDMI.

Walmart and other retail stores sell Bluray players for $25 with all the same apps also.
