Windows 10 Spartan features revealed
Microsoft is revealing their new operating system Windows 10 at the Windows 10 event on January 21st. Microsoft is possibly saying goodbye to Internet Explorer and introducing something new. Last December, Microsoft revealed their new web-browser Spartan. According to Microsoft, the new browser includes multiple new features that other browsers do not contain. Microsoft's Windows 10 press conference will be held in Redmond, Washington. The event will be live streamed at 9:00 a.m. PST.
Windows 10 was first unveiled by Microsoft in San Francisco back in September 2014. Microsoft is aiming towards making Windows 10 more associated with touch-enabled devices. Microsoft's corporate vice president Joe Belfiore stated that Windows 10 will also now support multiple desktops. According to Belfiore, we can expect a Windows 10 phone to make a appearance sometime in 2015.
One of Spartan's most advanced feature is the ability to create notes and email them to friends and family. Users will now have the opportunity to annotate multiple webpages with a stylus and share them to OneDrive. OneDrive is a file hosting service which allows Window's users to upload files on a cloud storage service and access those files from any device that OneDrive is compatible on. One of the most important features is Microsoft's Cortana. Based on Halo's artificial intelligence character Cortana, Cortana is similar to Apple's Siri. Cortana can assist users with discovering information online. Cortana also includes features that assist users with booking flights and managing hotels. Microsoft plans to replace every method of Bing and replace it with Spartan.
Microsoft is rumored to create group tabs to aid users to manage clutter inside of Spartan. Users will now have the ability to separate their personal tabs with ones that are work related. Spartan will be available on several platforms including PCs, tablets, and Windows phones. At launch, Spartan will not support custom themes. The possibility ofSpartan supporting custom themes in the future is very high. Spartan will be launched along with Windows 10 for compatibility reasons. Spartan is currently Microsoft's main priority. Microsoft is aiming to give Spartan a similar feel to Google Chrome. The graphical user interface for Spartan will apparently be a "simplified version of Chrome." Internet Explorer will still exist for "backwards compatibility reasons."
