    Default Let's talk aesthetics(Linux)

My laptop that I've been using, unfortunately doesn't have a CD-DRIVE. Even if I'm installing via USB(which I do in fact do), most installers still hang on the fact that they cannot find any sort of CD-ROM. That being said, I'm stuck with Ubuntu for the moment until I can find a way to circumvent the issue.

That being said, I'm wondering how you folks have styled your Linux-based machine's in the past. I know Debian w/ OpenBox & Tint2 is popular, but do you think Fluxbox is a better alternative?

Basically a /g/eneral linux thread. gogogo.

Agreed, Unity blows. As far as visual effects go, I'm a fan of Cinnamon, which ships with Mint by default.

    Openbox, awesome, dwm, i3

DEs are shit for ricing. You need to use a window manager if you want to make it look purdy.

    Code:
    What does /g/ use?

A common ricing configuration which can be seen among /g/ users in desktop threads is something along the lines of this:
Distro: Arch Linux (but sometimes Debian GNU/Linux or Gentoo/Funtoo)
    Window Manager: Awesome or i3
    Login/Display manager: Usually none.
File Manager: Sometimes ranger, but usually none.
    Terminal Emulator: rxvt-unicode
Shell: zsh + oh-my-zsh or bash (default)
    OS information: Screenfetch or Archey
font: terminus, Inconsolata or DejaVu (usually Dejavu Sans Mono in this case)
    Music player: mpd + ncmpcpp
    Video player: mpv
    IRC client: weechat or irssi
Screen capture (screenshot): scrot or import (part of imagemagick)
    Image viewer/desktop wallpaper display: feh
    Screen recorder: Byzanz
Streaming: FFmpeg (which includes FFserver if you want to host the stream)
Video conversion: FFmpeg (including WebM or GIF creation)
Text editor: Vim, Emacs or Nano
All of these can be installed from a repository via your package manager, be it your distro's main one or a user one (the AUR in Arch), or built from source. Do a little searching to find out.

Above you'll see the step-by-step weeb transformation guide. Surgery free!

no but srsly awesome looks shitty to me tbh. I like Openbox/Fluxbox so much more.
