    Default Stolen iphone 6 help

i dont agree with being an asshole and trying to steal iphones first off.

A guy i know went to south Carolina and found a phone in a ditch when he pulled over to pee. I assume someone was doing the same thing and their phone droped who knows.

I personally would seek out the owner but he plans on unlocking it and keeping it. Morality aside can someone offer advice on what steps should be taken to wipe it and unlock it to be used (maybe even jailbroken)

I have never owned an ios device so i have no knowledge of them so any help is apreciated

Alright well you want to do a hard wipe, I would recommend taking the phone and putting it in DFU mode and Restoring it to factory settings via iTunes.

Dont do it man.. I'm not saying this because i'm a jesus loving guy

I still don't think its wrong it you do wipe it but at least try and seek the owner first, if you don't get any leads just keep it.

Just think would you want someone to at least find you first??

Well I'm an asshole so I'd just restore like PvtRyan said through dfu mode and keep it lmao but that's just me personally lmao

Make sure you have "find my iphone" turned off or you will need the credentials of the original owner in order to do a DFU restore. You will basically end up with a paper weight.

    ^^^^
I believe this is true. You cannot turn off "Find My iPhone" without a password (by default). And I am sure you need it turned off to restore.

Well, one it's bad to save the phone for yourselves but that's your choice. But from what I know, even with a restore the phone will ask for an iTunes account that was created with that phone. The only way you can get it is by handing it back to the owner.

At least use Siri and say "call home" or "call my mom" and try to find the owner like that.

Personally, if it's a CDMA model, get rid of it. GSM? Toss the SIM card and restore WITH FIND MY IPHONE OFF BEFORE RESTORING.

Tell your friend good luck, and be sure to laugh at him if he gets visit from police or iCloud locked.
