which GPU to upgrade to?
so my 7850 is reaching the end of its life. most games i play im unable to get the nice settings anymore and some games (looking at you unity) wont even run well.
my budget is around £170 which is $260 but different gpus may be cheaper over there.
the two cards im looking at are the:
Radeon R9 280x
i hear the radeons more powerful, and its more cheaper in england and has 3gb of memory.
what can you guys suggest?

R9 280X all the way. 3gigs vram and a 380bit interface vs 2gigs and a 128bit with nearly the same clock speeds. honestly 2 gigs at 7ghz on a 128bit interface sounds like a serious bottleneck to me.
however, it does depend upon the games you wanna run and what card they're optimized for.

however, here's a benchmark with the 960: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6cnn0NJRM8
and here's a benchmark with the 280x: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOPxnuENPMI
personally i'd go for the 280x if these are the only cards you're considering purchasing.

Update: got payrise.
I should be able to afford the radeon r9 290x / 290 or with a stretch the gtz 970 but thats like 150 over budget.
Problem is my power supply is 500 watt.

if you've got a supply by seasonic, corsair, coolermaster, or any top of the line brand that's 80+ gold, you'll be fine.
my guess is that it'll draw around 325 watts max.
