I couldn't stand how unorganized the team was and I just said fuck it, and updated to 5.5.0.

The only reason why they released it is because it was patched in 5.5.0. That's why everyone is having problems with it.

It's a race attack in a very small space of ram. It's a timing issue as to why it's so buggy. The wii u is attempting to overwrite the blocks with good data while your are trying to overwrite it.
With such a small space the blocks are written by the wii u real quick if you don't gain access quickly it fails. Which is why resetting and trying again and again. Then it works.
Cut them some slack. Honestly would say not bad for their first kernel exploit. (well public released one anyway)
    It eventually gains execution.
Their biggest problem is the low interest in building on their exploit. I mean the end users have a ton of interest but nobody that has the ability to make things better and do the major investigation are even remotely interested in assisting. I mean hell the team themselves seem to be losing steam on desire to build upon it.

They already have a userland and kernel exploit for 5.5.0.

They probably won't release it for a few months knowing them.

They should have patch all 4 verified kernel entry points. They chose to patch just one. Still say there's a mole in that team somewhere.
I'm gonna guess the exploit they are using is quite a bit more buggy than the previous one. Probably have a ton less space in which to operate than previous.
I'll bet the failed attempt rate is much higher.
I think Nintendo is trying to wear them down and have fun in the process. Big cat and mouse game. The biggest problem with this is if the cat continues toying with the mouse and not ending it the mouse can mate with another mouse and you'll have an entire infestation. And one mouse may not be able to overcome the cat but many mice surely can send that cat packing.
